About

Life After Divorce Foundation is a non-profit inspired by the legacy of Bertha  Mae Singleton.

Life After Divorce Foundation Mission: To create and sponsor services for women and men who are transitioning from marriage into separation and divorce.  Life After Divorce Foundation empowers people to continue on and live their future.

Getting Started…

I decided to create the Life After Divorce Foundation in honor of my mother, Bertha Mae Singleton and of all the women who are unfairly treated by men who manage their finances, and do not offer funds to their wives to seek proper representation through an attorney.

“Till death do us part”…physical death, or the death of love?

Both are painful, initial separation can very well be associated with death. Going through the trials of the divorce is akin to a wake, after which we wait for the repast. The repast can take many years before scheduling because the wake is dragging on too long.

Perhaps it sounds a bit morbid to associate death and divorce; however, my first spiritual advisor told me that when I was unsure of which direction to travel, honoring my wedding vows or continuing in an unhappy marriage. It was obvious that my husband wasn’t committed to the relationship, and confirmed by his many extra-marital affairs…I chose the road to divorce.

Unfortunately my husband controlled our finances, which was a problem for me. You see, I had seen so many women in the same situation. Married to affluent men who are not in favor of or interested in giving their wives or partners funds to hire a proper attorney. I was his third marriage and he walked away from the other 2 without any financial compensation to them.

In lots of cases men walk away from their wives, and children for another woman, abandon his children but take care of those of the mistress.

No matter who decides to end the marriage, everything acquired during the marriage is to be divided equally, that is the law.

I was too trusting of my husband but aren’t we supposed to trust our spouse?

His numerous infidelities were the reason for my wanting a divorce. However, he walked away with the majority of our net worth and home, which was well appointed with museum quality antiques, and fine art.

We all has either gone through a similar experience, if not personally, we know someone who has.

Life After Divorce Foundation is not created out of anger; its mission is to help those who have suffered the same unfairness and disrespect.

Not having the funds to hire a proper attorney we suffer during and in the end.

Life After Divorce Foundation will raise funds for financial and other assistance to women, and men.

Please support the efforts of Life After Divorce Foundation…
